Public safety is the city’s first priority, and unfortunately, crime is still too high in some neighborhoods.
On Council, I supported Mayor Rogero and pushed for the new public safety building for our police and first responders, and we recently approved the purchase of the old Tennova site to begin that process. As Mayor, I will see this through, so we can have a modern, integrated approach to keeping our community safe.
As Mayor, I will build on this by promoting a community-centered, multi-faceted approach. I will push for modern policing strategies that focus on innovative and effective enforcement, prevention programs for our youth, and proactive problem solving. I will advocate for body cameras on all police officers to ensure the safety of our citizens and the officers who serve them.
We must also do everything we can to recruit the best people to serve the City of Knoxville. I will be proactive in minority recruitment and will work to ensure strong community relationships, which will make all our neighborhoods safer.
